Travel League Information:
- Boys League: Will be overseen by the North Jersey Junior Basketball League (NJJBL).
- Girls League: Will be overseen by the Bergen County Town Travel Basketball League (BCTTB) or North/West Bergen/Passaic Travel Basketball League (still TBD)
Games
Both leagues anticipate starting December 1st and run into March (May include playoffs). We anticipate each team will play a minimum of 16 games. Games will be played at schools throughout Bergen County. We will provide more details about the leagues and gym locations after the schedules are finalized.
Practices
You can expect 1-2 practices each week throughout the season. We will look to get you in a predictable routine once the schedule is finalized. However, practices may be different each week once the season begins. It is important to be flexible throughout the season. Practices are typically posted on TeamSnap the week prior. As we play in a very competitive travel league practices are mandatory.
Coaches
The Travel Board will seek to have two coaches per team. The teams will have a parent volunteer coach or a paid coach. All coaches will be approved by the Travel Board. The Travel Boards aim is to have coaches that have prior coaching experience and can increase our children’s basketball skills and in building teamwork and above all, having fun. If you would like to be considered as a coaching candidate, please make sure you volunteer at registration and you will be contacted.
Please look for a separate email when registration is officially open in the coming days. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to any of the Waldwick Jr. Basketball Board Members. All coaches are required to be certified by the Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y Clinic and must pass a background check.
Code of Conduct
Good sportsmanship and professional behavior is always expected and in all circumstances by both player and parent, including relatives and friends. We will not tolerate players that show disrespectful behavior on the court or bench. There should be no negative feedback with referees or coaches regarding a call or a play. Likewise, parents providing instructions or coaching from the stands is strongly discouraged. Negative/disruptive actions by parents are cause for disciplinary actions against the parents.
There is, however, no limit to providing encouragement to the kids and cheering them on throughout the game
